Michael, or "Miguel" as he likes to call himself, was born in the Philippines in the early 90's. Growing up with food, culture, music and art as part of his environment, he absorbed every element of it and incorporated it to his soul. Attended an exclusive "all-boys-school" until high school, he was able to embrace two different elements of personality. There he was able to refine his skills in art and music and continued creating to help keep the flame burning.
Shortly after middle school, he decided to focus more on fashion as his main output of creativity. It took a lot of inspiration, creativity and passion to last that long hiding his desire to create from his family. A few months later, his family accidentally ran across some of his sketches and expressed huge amounts of support and pride, nothing he ever expected. It was from that moment that he felt this huge opportunity open in front of him.
Together with the help of friends, he has won the Grand Prize for a design contest sponsored by Levi's Strauss in 2006. That was the real confirmation for him that he is something different and has potential that others but him saw. A few years later, he became a part of Philippine Fashion Week and was able to gain friends in the Philippine Fashion Industry. He was able to watch shows that inspired him truly and awakened his roots in design.
He describes his aesthetic as split into two, sculpted architectural and heavily romantic. Emphasized hips, shoulders versus enormous amounts of flowing and draped fabric, very detailed and ornate. Skin-tight or voluminous, matte or sparkly; it has been a part of his creative interpretation.
Creativity has always been backed up by depth of personality and train of thought. He defines himself as "emotionally unstable" since his feelings change quickly and to the extreme.
Now this blogsite will encase all the emotions, inspirations and photographs that was a part of his life.
